head in the clouds feet on the ground

Jerry Ehrlich
2020
A metal sculpture of a stylized gray cloud mounted on an angled black support situated next to the Providence river and pedestrian bridge.
A pin on a map of 195 District Park marking the location of the head in the clouds statue situated on the east side of the park..

This piece was originally created for PVDFest 2020, although it was canceled due to the pandemic, it was installed during the Black Lives Matter protest march through the city in front of Providence City Hall.

The title, "head in the clouds... feet on the ground", is intended to reflect the intersection of creative inspiration and practical application that are both required to make things happen to achieve insightful growth and the thoughtful, inspired change that we continue to see in the city. It's fitting that the piece is now permanently located in 195 District Park.

This sculpture was installed in the park in 2022.
